Steve Derfiny
Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, I grew up with an affinity for design and engineering. After taking a high school course in mechanical engineering and architectural drafting I fell in love with the creative process of using 3D modeling software to create and imagine inventions and new ideas. After graduating from Purdue University’s Professional Industrial Design program, I entered the professional design world as a product design consultant with Cesaroni Design Consultants in Chicago. I’ve spent over 12 years implementing creative design processes to help companies develop a wide range of products from high end refrigerators for Sub-Zero, iPad charging carts for Apple, slot machines, fitness equipment, electronics, furniture, and medical devices such as x-ray machines and material samplers.
After receiving my SolidWorks Professional License, I spent four years as an Industrial Engineer/CAD Developer with a large industrial supplier, McMaster-Carr. I worked to help bring the products within their catalog into the 3-dimensional world for engineers and designers to implement into existing machines and new designs alike.
